Music Education: Rastislav started play cello at the age of five with Gabriela Tunáčková in Prievidza. Later, at the age of nine he was accepted as an exceptional student into the Conservatory of Žilina to study with professor Kveta Glasnakova. He won numerous international and national competitions. In addition to his high school studies, he participated in masterclasses where he worked with: Dimitri Ferschtman, Jozef Podhoranský, Arvids Tareila. Rastislav spent three intensive months of masterclasses in Riga (Latvia) with supervision of prof. Arvids Tareila. At present, he finished the unique double-degree bachelor program at Bard College Conservatory of Music supported by Mischa Schneider Scholarship, where he was simultaneously pursuing a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of “Russian and Eurasian Studies” with focus on language and literature. During this intensive double degree undergraduate program, Rastislav actively participated in solo, orchestral and chamber music playing. Besides playing in the conservatory orchestra, he also performed concerts with American Symphony Orchestra in the “side by side” program. As a member of Bard College Conservatory Orchestra, Rastislav performed many concerts with Leon Botstein and guest conductors: Rossen Milanov, Joann Falletta, Cristian Măcelaru, Jeffrey Kahane, Adam Fischer, Marcelo Lehninger. With Bard College Conservatory Orchestra he performed concert tours in China, Europe and Cuba. At the same time he had ensemble coachings and masterclasses with renowned artists like Arnold Steinhardt. Peter Serkin, Laurie Smukler, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Peter Wiley. Weigang Li, Yi-Wen Jiang, Joan Tower, In 2013, he was leading cellist at Bard College Chamber Music Tour in Central Europe. Furthermore, in ensemble Rastislav has performed with a distinguished artists such as violinists Shmuel Ashkenasi, Sergey Ostrovsky, violist Gilad Karni and cellist Gavriel Lipkind. As a part of his other degree, Rastislav spent one semester in St. Petersburg where he studied with cellist Dmitry Eremin. During his undergraduate studies, he was a student of professors Peter Wiley, Sophie Shao and Luis Garcia Renart.
